It is April now, at the end of the month, Ubuntu will have new version release.
This time it is a LTS version, which is also known as Long Term Support version.
The version that I concern the most is the netbook version which it will looks similar like this when it is release. But it will be much more nice when the final release comes out.
Since I am using netbook a lot, and Windows is not something I want in my Lenovo S10-2, where Windows is very very lagging in netbook. So I will only use Ubuntu Netbook Remix in my netbook.
Although I not yet try the beta version, but I think it will be very good, since I tested the beta version of the desktop version, it is loading very very fast and the applications in it is very light and load very fast.
But hopefully the netbook version, the window control buttons will not be at the left side like in the desktop version.
LOng term support, that is great. Not hesitate, go for it.
LTS means they will provide support for the repo for up to 5 years for the server applications.
For desktop/laptop/network, it is 3 years, compare to normal version, is 2 years.
Just out of interest, which Ubuntu repository do you use? MMU’s has been fast and reliable for ages. I’m glad the bad old days of searching for Indon / Taiwanese / Brazilian repositories has gone!
i am still using Taiwan’s NCHC repo.
local repo sometimes is too congested.
long time didn’t use my ubuntu T.T
u should continue use
🙂
I looked at nektboos for about 2 months, comparing all of the various features. Then I went on the road to see them in person and put my hands on the keyboard. I ended up choosing the Toshiba NB205-N325 because it met all my criteria (Windows 7, upgradable RAM, great battery life, and overall quality construction) and because it has the best keyboard for my hands. The chicklet keys are great and the sub-sized keyboard only slows me down a little from a full-sized version. After shopping all around I ended up buying it direct from Amazon. They had the best price on cyber monday of 329.99. Interestingly, the price is now back up to 380 so I guess I got lucky with the timing.I tossed the 2GB RAM upgrade into my shopping cart and the machine showed up at my door about 8 days later.Start up was a breeze. It found my home network and network printer without a problem. I downloaded chrome as my browser with no problem, activated the Norton trial (still shopping for an antivirus pr
